Do you love matching Christmas stockings, but hate the price tag? Learn how to make sequin christmas stockings with this free Christmas stocking sewing pattern.
I've also created an easy tutorial for you to create your own stockings for the whole family. You only need a few materials to make these stockings and you can use any fabric you like. I went for something flashy and bright this year, but you can tone it down with more traditional fabrics.
This sewing tutorial is great for beginners and can be done in just one night!

What Fabric Should I Use?
To make sequin Christmas stockings, you can use many different kinds of fabric for these stockings. Sequin, cotton, flannel, faux fur, minky, and fleece are just a few of my favorites. The choices are endless! Feel free to mix and match fabrics and colors when creating your stockings!
Materials Needed:
- 1 yard of sequin fabric (makes 3 stockings)
- 1/2 yard of chevron fabric
- Matching thread
- Sewing Machine
- Craft Clips
- Rotary Mat
- Rotary Blade
- Scissors
- Stocking pattern

Step One: Print and Cut Out Christmas Stocking Pattern
Lay out and tape Christmas stocking pattern as diagram shows.
Step Two: Cut Out Fabric
Lay out your rotary mat and cut your sequin fabric using the pattern.
Cut out your chevron fabric using the pattern provided.
Step Three: Sew Stocking Main Together
Clip or pin the stockings right sides together.
Sew the stockings together with a 3/8 inch seam allowance. Make sure to leave the top open.
Step Four: Sew Cuff
Fold the cuff in half with right sides together and sew the open ends to close it with a 3/8 inch seam allowance.
Turn the cuff right side out and fold in half.
Step Five: Attach Cuff to Stocking
Clip or pin the chevron fabric to the stocking with the seams matching up. Sew with a 3/8 inch seam allowance.
Clip the curves around the stocking for easy turning.
Turn right side out and fold the chevron over once

I’m wondering how this stocking hangs from a hook. Unless I missed something, there doesn’t appear to be any hanging loop instructions. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to use a 6”loop of ribbon, inserting it at the back seam between the stocking and the cuff, before stitching the cuff onto the body of the stocking?

Yes, that is what I personally would do. Or a nice thick ribbon.

This is so pretty. I never thought to do a sequin stocking. I’m going to make mini ones for silverware for the Christmas table
