Learn How to Cut and Apply Vinyl the Easy Way with a Cricut Explore Air 2 with This Step-By-Step Video Tutorial and Free SVG Cut Files.
This is a sponsored post written on behalf of JOANN, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

On my last trip to JOANN... you guys know by now that I make a weekly trip, right? It's kind of a joke in our family at this point.
My kids and husband know to expect that at some point in the week, I will sneak away to JOANN for some retail/craft therapy and come back grinning ear to ear with bags full of fun crafting supplies.
Anyways, as I was saying, on my last trip I found the most beautiful shimmer vinyl in a variety of colors and I just HAD to plan an entire project around it!
You know that feeling when inspiration strikes and you instantly know what you are going to make? Well, that's exactly what happened!

I grabbed a frame, small planner, bag, canvas, and tumbler and decided to personalize "ALL the things" because life is short and you shouldn't have to deal with boring accessories!
I'm so excited to be sharing all of these SVG files with you today, and the best part is they are all FREE. There are four quotes and a variety of different coordinating shapes.

If you've been waiting to purchase a Cricut, now's the time! The Cricut Wild Rose Bundle from JOANN is jam-packed with tools, vinyl, and the prettiest pink Cricut Explore Air 2. You can read all about it here.

First off, the shimmer vinyl comes with a piece of strong grip tape. I find the strong grip tape is a bit too sticky for this project. I like to cut the size of transfer tape I need and then stick it to my leg, shirt or desk to lessen the adhesiveness. Then I apply the transfer tape to the vinyl.
Another tip is to make sure the surface of whatever you are applying the vinyl to is clean. If it's tumbler, make sure to clean it with rubbing alcohol.

Prepare The Mat & Cut The Design
Place the Shimmer Vinyl with the paper liner facing downwards onto a Cricut Standard Grip cutting mat. For this project, I loaded all of the designs into Design Space and cut them all at once.
Select the images within Design Space (or design your own) and load the mat into the Cricut machine to begin cutting.

Turn the dial to “Custom” and select “Shimmer Vinyl” within Design Space. I like to select "more pressure" whenever I work with shimmer vinyl. Load the mat and begin cutting, once the design is complete, unload the mat.

Weed & Apply Vinyl Design with Transfer Tape
Remove the excess pieces surrounding the design using a weeding tool leaving the paper backing liner intact.

Cut a piece of Cricut Transfer Tape slightly larger than the design. Remove the transfer tape liner and apply the transfer tape with the sticky side facing downwards over the design.
Using a scraper, rub the tape onto the vinyl. To prevent bubbling begin in the center of the design and move outwards.

Center the design and apply the transfer tape to the canvas. Use a scraper tool to burnish the vinyl to adhere it to the canvas.

Peel away the transfer tape away from the canvas at a 45-degree angle.
If the design is sticking to the transfer tape and not the canvas, use the scraper to burnish the vinyl a second time and peel away the tape.

Now you have an adorable sign to hang up to motivate yourself. I'm putting mine right next to my computer as a positive reminder!
