Our Big Announcement!

We've been keeping a little secret for the past few months and our family is so excited to finally share our big news!

We will be welcoming a brand new baby into our home this May!

We knew after having Lincoln that we would want another baby fairly soon after him; but it was a matter of when. We love having our kids close in age because they are able to experience so much together and they have a built-in best friend. I'm continually grateful for the opportunity that we have been given to have these sweet little babies in our home. Not a single day goes by where I don't thank my Father in Heaven for the opportunity I have to raise these sweet children! Being a stay-at-home mother brings me so much joy and happiness! I love being able to watch my children as they experience new things each day and learn and grow.

Josh and I feel so many different emotions about adding a third child to our family. We are excited, nervous, thrilled and frankly, a tad-bit overwhelmed. Sometimes, it feels a little bit like we are running a three-ring circus with two toddlers who are just 13 months apart. In case you're trying to figure out the breakdown of ages, it goes like this: Madeline and Lincoln are 13 months apart, and Lincoln and our new baby will be about 18 months apart. So we will have three under three..... How exciting is that?!?

Seriously though, we are elated and are so excited to share our pregnancy announcement with all of you!

I'm currently 18 weeks along. I wish I could show you cute pictures of my baby bump, but I look more like I'm just holding onto a few pounds from Thanksgiving. Hopefully  I'll get a cute bump here soon enough!

A BIG thank you to Tim and Amanda, Josh's amazing co-workers, for being kind enough to take time out of their busy schedules to capture pictures and videos of our gender reveal!

This has been a really rough pregnancy for me. So I've been totally M.I.A. from my blog lately, and quite frankly, life. I've had terrible morning all-day sickness, never ending fatigue and headaches. My body doesn't take too kindly to the whole pregnancy thing, but I'm hoping that I'll start feeling a little more like myself here soon.

Let me tell you a little bit about the patterns I used for the pregnancy announcement for mine and Madeline's outfits in these pictures.

For my dress, I used the One Puddle Lane Miss Ruby Tuesday. This dress has SOOO many options. If you don't believe me, go take a look at the pattern listing! I picked it up during a sale when it first released and it's completely worth every penny! This is the second time I've made it. I modified the original bodice pattern using the slash and spread method to add a little bit of visual interest to the top. I also lengthened the knee-length circle skirt to a maxi skirt and then I added a sash. I've been dying over the adorable floral maxi dresses from pink blush maternity, but spending $50 on a dress seemed a little frivolous when I knew I could easily make my own. I spent just $9.00 on the fabric for this dress by ordering it from Girl Charlee during their Black Friday Sale. I'm calling this dress a total sewing win!

The skirt was a little bit of a fabric hog, but oh so worth it! Of course, in normal seamstress fashion, I decided to make this dress the night before  at 10:00 P.M., after deciding I had absolutely nothing to wear for the pregnancy announcement. The fabric arrived earlier that day at 6:00 P.M., but of course it had to be washed and dried first, and I had to make dinner, put the kids to bed and wash the dishes before I could get started on it. Oh the agony of waiting to start on a sewing project!! I finally rolled into bed around 2:00 A.M. so just forgive the bags under my eyes! Luckily my husband had to work late, so that gave me a good excuse to stay up.

Madeline's dress is the Violette Field Thread's Matilda.  Violette Field Threads is my one-stop-shop for all things Madeline. They have the perfect sense of style, vintage-inspired, with a little modern flair! It's a very simple peasant dress, but it's by far my favorite of all the peasant's I've made. It has the perfect amount of fullness! I just used a lightweight cotton fabric from JoAnn's that I found on sale. I think it cost somewhere around $6.00 in fabric to make. πŸ™‚

I wish I could say I sewed something for the boys for the pregnancy announcement....but that would be a lie. Maybe one day I'll enjoy sewing men's & boy's clothing. But for now, I think I'll stick to what I'm good at!

I love everything about this! Congrats on another girl!! (We all know girls are more fun to sew for! πŸ˜‰ ) and your dress is absolutely stunning, and your little girls dress is darling! They came out great! And I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who decides to sew things the night before they're needed πŸ™‚ I hope you get feeling better! My last pregnancy, I didn't muster up the energy to sew a single thing until like 30 weeks, so you are pretty much a rockstar. And you look amazing! Ok I'll stop now.. Longest comment ever. Congrats again! πŸ™‚

You are so sweet! Thank you so very much! I totally agree with you, girls are way more fun to see for! I was so excited when we found out we were having a girl! It's a good thing I already have everything I need for this baby because I have NO motivation to sew. πŸ™‚ It's lucky I was able to get this dress done in time! πŸ˜‰

Congrats on #3! I have 4 kids. #1 and #2 are 14 months apart, #2 and #3 are 15 months apart. People looked at me like I was a ring master when grocery shopping with it kid in child seat in grocery buggy, 1 kid in back with groceries and 1 kid in kid carrier wrap things. I did not let anything stop me. They were all 3 in diapers at once. I actually found it easier than now...... kid #3 and kid #4 are 7 years apart!!! Much harder lol can figure out why or how but for me it is. I pray you have an easy delivery and this new blessing just flows right in with your others. It's really not bad once you get the hang of 3 lol. Blessings!

Thank you so much, Tela! You definitely understand the crazy that I am getting myself into! Baby number three should be here any day! We are so excited. My first two are 13 months apart and number two and three will be 18 months apart. We will also have 3 in diapers. Man, I need to potty train my 2 year old already, but she is just not interested! I'm thinking there will be a definite gap between 3 and 4 because I'm not sure I can handle any more pregnancies for awhile. I need a little break! haha πŸ™‚ Thanks again!
