One Button Cardigan

IMG_2437 SWEET RED POPPYOne of my must-have patterns for the winter is a drapey cardigan. I loved having the opportunity to test this brand new pattern, The One Button Cardigan from GreenStyle Creations. I've been pinning one button cardigans on my Pinterest board and I was thrilled when GreenStyle Creations came out with a pattern just like the photos I had been pinning!

I made my first version out of a gray ponte de roma knit. I found that the fabric wasn't drapey enough to create a flattering shape, so I made a second one. This cardigan works best with a stable knit but nothing too heavy. It also needs about 25% stretch. I found the gray and blue striped fabric while I was living in Dallas at the fabric district. It was only $1.00 because it had a few flaws. I'm totally not above using flawed fabric and it's so perfect for testing out a new pattern. IMG_2296 SWEET RED POPPY

I chose the XS-S size along with the longer length and the regular length sleeves. The only thing I would change on this cardigan would be to take in the sleeves a little bit. The pattern was altered after I made this version and the arms were slimmed down.

You can wear this cardigan buttoned or open for a totally different look. I love the interest that using striped fabric added to this pattern. Oh and did I mention how perfect this cardigan is for covering up your post-Thanksgiving turkey belly? In all honesty, I've been eating pumpkin pie for breakfast all week....and now I have a few extra pounds lingering. Please tell me I'm not the only one!!

I have to brag on Angelyn just a little bit for what a fabulous job she did in creating the neckline of this pattern. It's fully enclosed and looks so professional! I've made more than my fair share of cardigans and this one definitely takes the cake. It offers the perfect amount of stability and it is able to hold up the weight of the cardigan perfectly.

The One Button Cardigan comes in sizes XS-3XL. You can make it in either the regular or the long length. The sleeves also have the same option. You can purchase the pattern here. The stripes are a really nice pairing with the draped front of the cardigan. The movement in the stripes makes it a very interesting piece.

Thanks Melissa! I was really happy with how it turned out. Originally I made the cardigan out of a solid gray knit but I felt like it needed a little something extra. The stripes worked out perfectly!

Hi! I have started using fleece and am stymied by how hard the hay sticks to the fleece! How on earth do you get it off? Thanks!LikeLike
