I'm so excited to share this new product with you! I first saw a preview of the Foil Quill at Creativation (A yearly event where creative businesses showcase new products) and I've been dying to get my hands on it ever since.

JOANN sent me an early release so I could try it out and share all about it! Let me tell you guys, it definitely doesn't disappoint! I've had so much fun testing it out on a variety of different materials and I even have an easy tutorial to share with you today!

What Is The Foil Quill from We R Memory Keepers?

The Foil Quill is a heat activated pen that works in combination with heat activated foil to create beautiful one-of-a-kind designs. The tip of the pen heats up when placed in a compatible cutting machine allowing it to draw beautiful designs on heat activated foil.

The Foil Quill is the perfect way to add a little something extra to your projects.

You can purchase additional accessories to pair with your Foil Quill as needed, or you can purchase the points seperately!

Prepare the Foil Quill Pen

Let's go ahead and get started on our first project! I'll walk you through everything you need to know!

First, choose your tip. There are three tips to choose from: Fine, Standard and Bold.

When choosing the tip keep in mind that the Fine tip is designed for small details, the Standard tip is used for the majority of designs and the Bold tip is recommended for thick lines.

The tip will be placed in the drawing clamp with an adapter attached to it.

Attach the adapter to the Foil Quill Pen (check the instructions for the correct adapter for your machine) and remove the pen housing from your Cricut machine.

Insert the Foil Quill into your cutting machine (compatible with Silhouette, Brother, Cricut, and Sizzix) using the correct attachment for your specific machine.

Plug the Foil Quill into an external power source such as a wall outlet or portable power source and make sure there is adequate room for the cord to move back and forth while the machine is in use.

The light will turn on as it begins to heat up. Allow the Foil Quill to heat up for 5 minutes using the heat resitant shield beneath the tip of the pen.

*Always remember to unplug the Foil Quill when it is not in use as the tip of the pen conducts heat.

Create Designs

You can easily add fun shapes and phrases to any project using the Foil Quill USB’s. Each drive is filled with 200 unique, one-of-a kind designs.

I used a combination of two Foil Quill USB’s from Heidi Swapp and Amy Tangerine to design my wall art.

To access the images, download the files onto your computer, then upload them to Cricut’s Design Space. It's so easy to use and I just adore each of the designs that came with my Design Drives.

Let's go ahead and get started on our wall art. Below is a list of the supplies you will need for this project! I found everything I needed for this project at JOANN.

Prepare the Materials for Foiling

Precut a piece of foil slightly larger than the design you intend to make.

Place the foil on top of the paper (or the material you intend to foil) and secure the sides using the washi tape provided.

Remove the heat sheild from beneath the tip of the pen. Insert the mat into the cutting machine and make sure that the "draw" feature has been selected for your design.

Once the design is complete, eject the mat. Gently remove the washing tape and peel back the foil to reveal your beautiful foil design!

This is my favorite step of the entire process, seeing the reveal of the beautiful foil design doesn't get old!

Find a beautiful frame for your artwork and place it somewhere special!
